VJC girls claim fourth A Division Hockey in a row

The girls? team of Victoria Junior College successfully defended their A Division Hockey title, after a 1-nil victory over Anglo Chinese Junior College at the finals of the National Inter-School Hockey Championships 2012, held at the Sengkang Sports and Recreation Center.

The match ended with Victoria scoring the only goal of the match in the first half.

Captain of VJC, Verity Wai-Smith, scorer of the only goal, was very happy with the performance of her team. ?I feel so honoured because we really worked hard. Our opponents really tested our abilities but I guess we played a better game. This has been a continuous nine year effort and it has really paid off for us,?

Meanwhile, in the boys? final, Raffles Institution overcame Victoria JC 2-1 to clinch the Boys A Division Hockey title.

Raffles Institution Captain, Jaspal Singh attributed his team?s victory to their hard work and perseverance, ?It feels really great to have won the championship title and I feel that all of the team?s hard work has finally paid off. We gave our all and we got what we deserve. Our opponents were strong and skilful but I guess we performed better,?

Despite winning the title, the newly crowned champions were already preparing to defend their title in next year?s competition as they look forward to providing much stiffer competition in their future tournaments.
