Ruth A Wright, 73, Tampa, Florida

Ruth Ann Wright of Tampa, Florida passed away Jan. 4, 2012, at the age of 73. She was born in Northville, Michigan to James and Jessie Watson. Ruth came into the Watson family as the last child and only daughter. She has two brothers that have preceded her in death:
James W. Watson and David E. Watson.

When she was two years old they moved to Miami from Michigan. Later on she lived on a farm in Lake City, Florida. One day on the farm, Ruth Ann was driving her Dad's car when she side swiped the gate on the property. Up comes her brother David to let her have it with colorful language. Telling her she was going to be in big trouble. Unbeknownst to David, their Dad was standing right behind him and got all over him about his vocabulary. He forgot about the car, which then let Ruth Ann off the hook!

Growing up she rode horses and competed in shows on her Tennessee Walker named "Melody". The first time she jumped her horse she screamed all the way across the jump but she made it! Later on after much improvement she won several awards.

She met her future husband Warren through her older brother Jim while they were in the Air Force stationed at Big Spring, Texas. They met in June of 1956 and began a courtship which included shooting Jack Rabbits along country roads at night. Warren was the trigger man and Ruth Ann was the wheel woman. She enjoyed listening to Elvis, but for them as a couple, their favorite song is "The Wayward Wind". Fifteen months later she married the love of her life, Warren R. Wright, on September 28, 1957 at Miami Shores Baptist Church. They were married 54 years and as a testament of her love and devotion she has never removed her wedding band.

As a military wife during the Vietnam War, Warren would be gone for months at a time and Ruth Ann would handle all four children, the dog, the cat, turtles, hamsters, but not the snakes! That was the boys' job. She loaded all the kids and the dog into the paneled station wagon and did a cross country trip from Tampa to Houston, Texas. Sitting in the restaurant looking out the window we noticed the dog taking the Barbie dolls and biting their heads and shaking them. The kids tell Mom and she calmly says," It will be alright".

Her parents immigrated to the United States in 1929 from Belfast, Northern Ireland, which made her 100% Irish. In 2006 she went to her parents' homeland for the first time and fell in love with the country. One of the many highlights was going into the Watson family home where her Dad lived as a young man.

She loved and adored her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the sparkle in her eyes. She was a big part of her their lives and would do anything for them. Her grandchildren describe her as kind-hearted and devoted. She remembered everyone's birthdates and achievements. She always had hugs and kisses to give each one. One of the most recent stories is her great-grandson Myles rushing in the house and asking for Grandma. Great-Granddad said she was upstairs and Myles leapt off the couch, went up the stairs, climbed into her bed, and proceeded to tell her everything about his trip to Disney. Even after a long day he couldn't wait to tell his Great-Grandma about his adventures! That's how special she was to him.

She is survived by her husband and three of her four children. Warren (Bobby) Wright Jr., who preceded her in death in 1987. Her surviving children are Sharon L. Raymer, James E. Wright, and Lisa A. Talarico. Son-in-law Ronnie L. Raymer and daughter-in-law Ellie Wenzel Wright.

Six Grandchildren: Jonathan, David, Jesse, Josie, Katarina, and Marisa.

She will be greatly missed by family and friends, but we will always cherish her in our hearts.
