Nonprofit Helps Youth By Teaching Them How To Start And Run Their Own Business

Lazone Grays, a business consultant and President of IBSA, Inc. points to facts that small businesses are what keep America?s economy the strongest in the world and now he wants to do his part to inspire enterprising youngsters to consider the possibilities of small business ownership as a means to financial reward. Grays believes that by teaching certain youth between 12 and 18 years old how to start and run their own business they will be given an upper hand in surviving in the world they will face.

IBSA?s Youth Entrepreneur Program instructs students on everything from formulating a business idea based on their passion and purpose in life, to writing a business plan, designing Websites and developing a realistic marketing plan. The program is designed to be an after school program that runs for three months during each session. Program hours are from 4pm to 7pm, which statistics have shown are the hours when most kids get into trouble. Real earning opportunities are provided to those youth who choose to participate in various projects in which they can earn residual and commissioned income.

His plan for the youth in the entrepreneur program is a three-fold plan. He says that four things will happen when the kids go through their program:

1) They will not be on the street getting into trouble, and they will be learning how to turn ideas into money legally;

2) They will learn what it means to become self-sufficient, an asset to the community, and what it means to give back;

3) They will have real opportunities to earn legitimate spending money;

4) With everything it takes to run a business, the things that they will learn will help them to improve their grades in school.

In order for the training to be most effective, Mr. Grays says they keep the class size between 15 and 20 students per three-month session.

Registration cost is $ 160 per youth and classes will begin several times throughout the year.
