We drain his ear almost every day and it's been going down in size. Will he be okay with out the vet?Answer Questionredwidow by redwidow Member since:August 19, 2010Total points:5,139 (Level 5)STOP DRAINING IT!!!!!!!! That is the absolute worst thing you can do for it, it WILL get infected. You have two options, go to vet, pay $5-600.00 having the layers of the ear stitched back together (which my vet won't even do unless it is a show animal) OR LEAVE IT ALONE. It will go away all by itself (This is coming from a vet and personal experience). Once it starts to go down you may want to have him checked for ear mites as that is usually the cause. My dog just recovered from a hematoma on BOTH ears.
