In an effort to celebrate and preserve the rich oral history of the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), SAME HQ in late 2010 began production on a video featuring commentary from four of the society?s most celebrated and accomplished past leaders: Former SAME Presidents Lt. Gen. John W. Morris, P.E., F.SAME, USA (Ret.) (1978-79), Maj. Gen. Clifton D. ?Duke? Wright Jr., P.E., F.SAME, USAF (Ret.) (1984-85), and Rear Adm.?Benjamin F. Montoya, P.E., F.SAME, USN (Ret.) (1989-90)??as well as Brig. Gen. Walter Bachus, P.E., F.SAME, USA (Ret.), who served as SAME Executive Director from 1978 through 1993.
In the 23-minute video, titled ?Reflections: A Historical Look at the Society of American Military Engineers, 1978-1993,? these distinguished leaders recall their introductions to military engineering, their first experiences with SAME and how they supported the society, and vice versa, throughout their careers. The video was screened during the SAME Strategic Planning Meeting in March 2011 and is now available for viewing through the SAME website by clicking here or on the above image.
